Devlog 0: A Snake with Glasses

Now that I've made 2 games (and started many crappy and/or unfinished projects), I think it's time for me to ignore all the game dev advice I've seen and jump right in to try and make a full, money-worthy game! Now isn't that exciting! Hopefully it doesn't take 3 years.

As you can probably tell, the game is going to be a snake game. If you're wondering 'A snake puzzle game?', it's not going to be a regular snake game. Instead, it's a sokoban game where you play as a character with snake controls. You'll move 1 tile at a time, not constantly!

This isn't the main mechanic, though; that's already been done. Instead, the thing that's hopefully special about my game is the goal! Instead of requiring you to cook sausages or push boxes (although there will be box pushes), the goal is to cover all the level with your body (there are exceptions) and reach the win tile with your head, assuming there is one!

But this, this is just a load of speculation. What do I have done? Here it is:

  • Art for the player (a snake with glasses!) and 4 types of tiles (planning ahead for future worlds!)
  • 2 candidate names for the player: Blake and Specs. If you have any ideas, do tell!
  • Snake movement for one body segment.
  • Semi-working level generation.
Next, I'm planning to improve the movement, add support for different tiles and objects in levels, and maybe work on the world map!

Thanks for reading!
